Testing Primark Foundations

Primark Foundations๐Ÿ’“

1 week test!

I am a complete foundation junkie... I am forever YouTubing different brands for ones with different finishes and of all price ranges! As much as I love my Double Wear or Born This Way; I am always on the search for drug store or affordable alternatives for everyday to wear to work. ๐Ÿ˜Š

I have seen sooo much hype about the new Primark range 'PS.. My Perfect Colour' range from bloggers and YouTubers and was so excited to try some out for myself. I got myself these 3 with different finishes - matte and velvet, different coverage and in 2 colours (one to match my fake tan colour- just because!) The prices ranged from £3 - £6 making them super affordable - I was so excited! ๐Ÿ˜

I have normal-type skin, with a slightly oily T-Zone by the end of the day and my go-to foundation for work is normally Maybelline's Fit Me. I run around all day for my job so I was eager to put these Primarni foundations to the ultimate teacher test!

Here are my findings:

Day 1
My Perfect Colour - Longwear Ultimate Matte Foundation

6.30am - This foundation is £5! ๐Ÿ˜ This foundation claims to be 'double coverage' and it does feel thick which I like in a foundation. It feels similar to the Double Wear when it is straight out of the bottle and similar to that style of bottle/ application, too. It was a good colour match in 'Ivory' for my tan-less skin with a pink undertone. It claims to be the longest wearing with a matte finish... It went on my skin well with my foundation brush and wasn't completely matte (which I prefer as opposed to a completely matte finish) - it was more satin-matte and looked super smooth and flawless.

12pm - Toilet check after a morning of lessons. Still looking good - slightly oxidised a bit but generally looking good and holding out well. It looks good with concealer and highlight on top and I feel confident with it on my skin. No one has noticed anything going orange (my work colleagues would definitely tell me!)

6pm - Home. I haven't touched up my make up all day and my T-Zone is slightly oily but that's nothing new for me. It has stayed generally well with a slight bit of fading on my chin - I could have done with a concealer top up but I never have time at work!

Overall - I do like this foundation! For a fiver I think it looks good and lasts well throughout the day. I'm not sure it is a 'double coverage' but I'm not sure in what regards it is 'double' of?
I would give it a 7/10 ๐Ÿ˜Š

Day 2
My Perfect Colour Matte Foundation

6.30am - This foundation is another matte foundation but is more medium - full buildable coverage. This is the one I have seen most bloggers rave about and it did not disappoint! It felt nice going on to my skin over my moisturiser and I used the same Real Techniques brush to apply as yesterday.

10am - Colleague at work noticed my face was slightly darker colour than my neck - potentially 'ivory' had oxidised on my skin as it had looked a good match this morning. More bronzer needed on my neck!

5pm - This looked lovely on my drive home from work and the coverage lasted well all day. Just needs a bit more blending than I am used to (I don't usually wear foundation to work!) and will try again with a beauty sponge next time. I am impressed!

Overall - It is a good foundation .. I just wasn't overly keen on how orange it made my skin look! I give it a 6/10.

Day 3 - Mixing Day 1 'Ultimate' with Mac's Strobe Cream

I did really like the Ultimate foundation.. and I wanted to give it another go! Today I chose to mix it with Mac's Strobe Cream to give a more luminous finish as this is what I prefer over a completely matte finish. I felt that this looked much more 'me' having mixed  the two together and it still had a light coverage. The foundation lasted throughout the day, and it did not go as orange as before so I was really pleased with that!

Day 4 - Mixing Day 2 'Matte' with Mac's Strobe Cream

I was really hoping I would prefer this foundation when it was mixed with the strobe cream - but I still had an orange face by lunchtime! I applied it with my beauty sponge as I was hoping this would apply it well. It goes on beautifully and it did give a nice finish - more satin than matte, which I prefer. It feels nice on the skin and it blends out lovely with concealers and powders on top.

After today, I think I prefer the Ultimate foundation to this one - sorry, Primark! It just isn't for me!

Day 5
My Perfect Colour - Velvet Finish Foundation

I was saving this foundation for last because I think I was secretly hoping I would like it the most! It was the most expensive at £6, however I still feel like this is a very affordable foundation.

6.30am - I bought this in the Nude Beige colour to match my tan and it was a really good match against my post-weekend neck and face! It was a lovely finish - definitely 'satin' as opposed to matte which I really prefer and it blended seamlessly! It is definitely a more sheer- buildable coverage, so if you are a full coverage girl - I wouldn't recommend! But if you like a natural finish that is super lightweight and more second-skin-like, then I would!

12pm - Had compliments on my skin today and told I am looking 'glowy' - and not orange! Hurrah!

6pm - Has lasted all day - with no touch ups - and still has a nice glow to the skin!

Overall - This was definitely my favourite foundation of the 3. As much as it didn't have the coverage of the other 2, it looked super glowy, natural and fresh on the skin and most importantly - it didn't oxidise so I didn't represent a tangerine by 3pm! It probably wouldn't be everyone's favourite but if you like a natural glow and something for everyday; I would 100% recommend this one! 9/10 from me!

Have you ever tried a Primark foundation? What are your thoughts?
