My Top 5 Beauty Skincare Tips..

Now, I am not a beauty guru by any means... But I like to think I have 'okay' skin. It's pretty normal in terms of 'type', not overly oily and not overly dry, I get spots when it's that time of the month... that kinda thing! It's kinda somewhere in the 'normal' region, but that doesn't mean I don't have to look after it! I have looked after my skin since I started at secondary school because I suffered terribly with bad acne and my mum helped me so much with my spots. So I promise that I have been-there, done-that, tried-that and more! Pinky promise!

Over the years I have tried all sorts of lotions and potions, but I have narrowed it down to 5 top tips to keep my skin looking glowy - even in the winter months!

1. ALWAYS take your make up off before bed!

No excuses! Honestly, this is suuuuch a must must for me! It drives my boyfriend mad because I take aaaages but even when I am shattered and/ or drunk I have to take my face off before I can sleep. It is so important to give your skin that time to breathe, and it is just an easy route to spot-ville if you sleep with a full face on. I always buy those mini micellar waters if I am away from home because they are easy to carry around and they remove most of your make up if you really can't be dealing with a proper clean. So yes, no matter what age you are - pinky promise me you will try this! My mum is in her 50s and I have only just managed to make her start taking her make up off properly at night, (not the once-over with a face wipe lark!) this and she has noticed a difference in her skin. It works. Trust me.

2. Drink as much water as you can!

I am not by any means a health fanatic, but this is something I do try to do! I am better at work for this as I have a bottle with me all the time and I aim to drink at least 2 litres a day. This sounds like loads, but if you get a litre sized bottle and just re-fill it twice it quickly goes down throughout the day. Or do more if you can!! Not only is it important for all-round bodily functions, it is amazing for your skin and hair and nails and everything else. It really is a 1-job-wonder.

3. Invest in a good moisturiser

By 'invest', I really don't mean 'go out and spend all your money on top brands'; I mean, invest your time on what works best for you. Despite having 'normal' type skin, I often find that products with less ingredients work best on my skin - such as the whole of the Simple range are a must for me. They contain key ingredients, no alcohol and no harsh chemicals and I find these work really well. I use all their facial washes and moisturisers.
However, my beauty steal I have just purchased my 3rd tub of is the Aldi Lacura Q10 daily moisturiser (looks something like the image below!) It is amazing! It has SPF 20 in it which is super important for all seasons and I have really seen a difference in my skin since using it. It is a bargain at £1.69 - I defo recommend to anyone looking for a new moisturiser.
But yes, invest in moisturisers, and products in general, that work for your skin. We are all different and it is important to give your skin all the goodness it needs.

4. Clean your make-up brushes regularly

I am the first to admit this is something I have only been doing more regularly recently, as I never really saw the point before. But it is super important for lots of hygeine reasons to keep your skin looking clear and it also helps to apply products better without the brushes being clogged. Keep your skin and your products happy, girls!

5. Have fun with make-up  - there are no rules!

I think we can all be guilty of trying things we see as typically 'beautiful' but I think it is important to remember to have fun with make up and to try new things all the time. That is the best part - at the end of the day you can take it off and try again! There really are no rules, and if you love something, then own it! I spent far too many years adhering to 'normal' or 'socially accepted' stereotypes when it came to how I looked, but now I am at an age where I know what I like, and I'm going to wear it regardless!
