How I Grew Out My Lob ♡

How To: Grow your hair!

Now firstly... this is not an overnight fix! This has taken me the best part of a year and more... I don't use extensions or clip ins or anything... this is just my hair & what works for me 😊

Anyways, I cut my hair into a long bob back in summer 2016 and I absolutely loved it! Despite this, I get bored of my hair very easily and since then have slowly been growing it back.

I have dyed my hair for about 10 years and have been every colour I can think of... so I do always try to take care of its condition. I am very conscious of a few things due to the amount of bleach on my hair but over the years I have perfected how to keep it in it's best condition.

Here are my tips on how I grew it back to this.

This may not look a huge difference in length. But it really is a good few inches and noticeably longer and healthier, too.

1. Only wash your hair every few days

I used to religiously wash my hair everyday at school but since University I have really tried to only stick to washing it maybe 3 times a week. Your hair naturally produces oils that encourage it to grow and if you wash it everyday, these oils don’t get a chance to work. Dry shampoo is amazing - I swear by it - to use inbetween washes if you need a boost.

2. Use a good, thick conditioner and treatment mask

I am always alternating between different conditioners and shampoos. But something I do always try to do is go for ones that are for 'dry, damaged' hair. The one I am currently using is the Garnier Ultimate Blends Conditioner with Argan oil! It is the 'Nourishing Repairer' range and it is sooo thick and luxurious and smells amazing, too. I would also recommend using a thick treatment mask each week to give your hair an extra hydration boost!

3. Use as little heat as you can

Plaits have become my go-to hair to sleep in! I wash my hair at night and sleep in plaits and then wake up to crazy curls the next day. I have been loving this as it uses no heat but still is a manageable style for everyday. Heat products like straighteners which we all use are amazing and I know I couldn’t be without them but I do try to only use them at weekends if I can help it to avoid heat damage. I always use heat protection spray, too when using heat products to try to protect a little bit more!

4. Eat the right foods

I am the world's biggest chocoaholic so I don't always do this - but I know that I should! Eating the right foods to encourage your hair to grow by giving it the nutrients it needs. I always find my hair grows more when I drink protein shakes as proteins are so good for your hair. Other foods that help your hair grow (that I try to incorporate in to my diet!) are eggs, fish, avocados, spinach, carrots and nuts/ seeds! I find these easiest to add in to your daily foods!

5. Supplements

365 Vitamins were kind enough to send me their 'Repair and Revitalise' tablets which I have been taking religiously for 2 months each morning as part of my routine to support my skin, hair and nail growth. These contain vitamin C and biotin which supports and aids the proteins in your hair and nails to help them grow healthily, look shinier and stronger, too!

Obviously I am no expert and I am definitely not a hairdresser! These are just the tips that worked for me!

Have you ever grown out a hair style? How did you do it?
